John, Chapter 21 Ancient Greek
1. Μετὰ ταῦτα
ἐφανέρωσεν
ἑαυτὸν πάλιν ὁ
Ἰησοῦς τοῖς
μαθηταῖς ἐπὶ
τῆς θαλάσσης
τῆς
Τιβεριάδος· ἐφανέρωσε
δὲ οὕτως.
2. ἦσαν ὁμοῦ
Σίμων Πέτρος,
καὶ Θωμᾶς ὁ
λεγόμενος Δίδυμος,
καὶ Ναθαναὴλ ὁ
ἀπὸ Κανᾶ τῆς
Γαλιλαίας, καὶ οἱ
τοῦ Ζεβεδαίου,
καὶ ἄλλοι ἐκ
τῶν μαθητῶν
αὐτοῦ δύο.
3. λέγει αὐτοῖς
Σίμων Πέτρος·
ὑπάγω
ἁλιεύειν. λέγουσιν
αὐτῷ· ἐρχόμεθα
καὶ ἡμεῖς σὺν
σοί. ἐξῆλθον καὶ
ἐνέβησαν εἰς
τὸ πλοῖον
εὐθύς, καὶ ἐν
ἐκείνῃ τῇ νυκτὶ
ἐπίασαν οὐδέν.
4. πρωΐας δὲ
ἤδη γενομένης
ἔστη ὁ Ἰησοῦς
εἰς τὸν αἰγιαλόν·
οὐ μέντοι
ᾔδεισαν οἱ
μαθηταὶ ὅτι
Ἰησοῦς ἐστι.
5. λέγει οὖν
αὐτοῖς ὁ
Ἰησοῦς· παιδία,
μή τι προσφάγιον
ἔχετε;
ἀπεκρίθησαν
αὐτῷ· οὔ.
6. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν
αὐτοῖς· βάλετε
εἰς τὰ δεξιὰ
μέρη τοῦ πλοίου
τὸ δίκτυον, καὶ
εὑρήσετε.
ἔβαλον οὖν, καὶ
οὐκέτι αὐτὸ
ἑλκύσαι
ἴσχυσαν ἀπὸ
τοῦ πλήθους
τῶν ἰχθύων.
7. λέγει οὖν ὁ μαθητὴς
ἐκεῖνος, ὃν
ἠγάπα ὁ Ἰησοῦς,
τῷ Πέτρῳ· ὁ Κύριός
ἐστι. Σίμων οὖν
Πέτρος
ἀκούσας ὅτι ὁ
Κύριός ἐστι,
τὸν ἐπενδύτην
διεζώσατο· ἦν
γὰρ γυμνός· καὶ
ἔβαλεν ἑαυτὸν
εἰς τὴν
θάλασσαν·
8. οἱ δὲ ἄλλοι
μαθηταὶ τῷ
πλοιαρίῳ
ἦλθον· οὐ γὰρ
ἦσαν μακρὰν
ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς, ἀλλ'
ὡς ἀπὸ πηχῶν
διακοσίων,
σύροντες τὸ
δίκτυον τῶν
ἰχθύων.
9. ὡς οὖν
ἀπέβησαν εἰς
τὴν γῆν,
βλέπουσιν
ἀνθρακιὰν
κειμένην καὶ
ὀψάριον
ἐπικείμενον
καὶ ἄρτον.
10. λέγει
αὐτοῖς ὁ
Ἰησοῦς·
ἐνέγκατε ἀπὸ
τῶν ὀψαρίων ὧν
ἐπιάσατε νῦν.
11. ἀνέβη Σίμων
Πέτρος καὶ
εἵλκυσε τὸ
δίκτυον ἐπὶ
τῆς γῆς, μεστὸν
ἰχθύων
μεγάλων ἑκατὸν
πεντήκοντα
τριῶν· καὶ
τοσούτων
ὄντων οὐκ ἐσχίσθη
τὸ δίκτυον.
12. λέγει
αὐτοῖς ὁ
Ἰησοῦς· δεῦτε
ἀριστήσατε.
οὐδεὶς δὲ
ἐτόλμα τῶν
μαθητῶν
ἐξετάσαι
αὐτὸν σὺ τίς
εἶ, εἰδότες ὅτι
ὁ Κύριός ἐστιν.
13. ἔρχεται οὖν
ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ
λαμβάνει τὸν
ἄρτον καὶ
δίδωσιν αὐτοῖς,
καὶ τὸ ὀψάριον
ὁμοίως.
14. Τοῦτο ἤδη
τρίτον
ἐφανερώθη ὁ
Ἰησοῦς τοῖς
μαθηταῖς
αὐτοῦ
ἐγερθεὶς ἐκ
νεκρῶν.
15. Ὅτε οὖν
ἠρίστησαν,
λέγει τῷ
Σίμωνι Πέτρῳ ὁ
Ἰησοῦς· Σίμων
Ἰωνᾶ, ἀγαπᾷς με
πλεῖον τούτων;
λέγει αὐτῷ· ναί,
Κύριε, σὺ οἶδας
ὅτι φιλῶ σε.
λέγει αὐτῷ· βόσκε
τὰ ἀρνία μου.
16. λέγει αὐτῷ
πάλιν
δεύτερον·
Σίμων Ἰωνᾶ,
ἀγαπᾷς με;
λέγει αὐτῷ· ναί,
Κύριε, σὺ οἶδας
ὅτι φιλῶ σε.
λέγει αὐτῷ·
ποίμαινε τὰ
πρόβατά μου.
17. λέγει αὐτῷ
τὸ τρίτον·
Σίμων Ἰωνᾶ,
φιλεῖς με;
ἐλυπήθη ὁ
Πέτρος ὅτι
εἶπεν αὐτῷ τὸ
τρίτον, φιλεῖς
με; καὶ εἶπεν
αὐτῷ· Κύριε, σὺ
πάντα οἶδας, σὺ
γινώσκεις ὅτι
φιλῶ σε. λέγει
αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς·
βόσκε τὰ πρόβατά
μου.
18. ἀμὴν ἀμὴν
λέγω σοι, ὅτε ἦς
νεώτερος,
ἐζώννυες σεαυτὸν
καὶ
περιεπάτεις
ὅπου ἤθελες·
ὅταν δὲ
γηράσῃς,
ἐκτενεῖς τὰς
χεῖράς σου, καὶ
ἄλλος σε ζώσει,
καὶ οἴσει ὅπου
οὐ θέλεις.
19. τοῦτο δὲ
εἶπε σημαίνων
ποίῳ θανάτῳ
δοξάσει τὸν Θεόν.
καὶ τοῦτο
εἰπὼν λέγει
αὐτῷ·
ἀκολούθει μοι.
20. Ἐπιστραφεὶς
δὲ ὁ Πέτρος
βλέπει τὸν
μαθητὴν ὃν ἠγάπα
ὁ Ἰησοῦς
ἀκολουθοῦντα,
ὃς καὶ
ἀνέπεσεν ἐν τῷ
δείπνῳ ἐπὶ τὸ
στῆθος αὐτοῦ
καὶ εἶπε· Κύριε,
τίς ἐστιν ὁ
παραδιδούς σε;
21. τοῦτον ἰδὼν
ὁ Πέτρος λέγει
τῷ Ἰησοῦ· Κύριε,
οὗτος δὲ τί;
22. λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ
Ἰησοῦς· ἐὰν
αὐτὸν θέλω
μένειν ἕως ἔρχομαι,
τί πρὸς σέ; σὺ
ἀκολούθει μοι.
23. ἐξῆλθεν οὖν
ὁ λόγος οὗτος
εἰς τοὺς
ἀδελφοὺς ὅτι ὁ
μαθητὴς
ἐκεῖνος οὐκ
ἀποθνήσκει·
καὶ οὐκ εἶπεν αὐτῷ
ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι
οὐκ
ἀποθνήσκει,
ἀλλ' ἐὰν αὐτὸν θέλω
μένειν ἕως
ἔρχομαι, τί
πρὸς σέ;
24. Οὗτός ἐστιν
ὁ μαθητὴς ὁ
μαρτυρῶν περὶ
τούτων καὶ ὁ
γράψας ταῦτα,
καὶ οἴδαμεν
ὅτι ἀληθής
ἐστιν ἡ
μαρτυρία
αὐτοῦ.
25. ἔστι δὲ καὶ
ἄλλα πολλὰ ὅσα
ἐποίησεν ὁ
Ἰησοῦς, ἅτινα
ἐὰν γράφηται
καθ' ἕν, οὐδὲ
αὐτὸν οἶμαι
τὸν κόσμον
χωρῆσαι τὰ
γραφόμενα
βιβλία. ἀμήν.
John, Chapter 21 (KJV)
01 After these things
Jesus showed himself again to thedisciples at the sea of Tiberias; and
on this wise showedhe himself.
02 There were together
Simon Peter, and Thomas calledDidymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee,
and the sonsof Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
03 Simon Peter saith
unto them, I go a fishing. They sayunto him, We also go with thee. They
went forth, andentered into a ship immediately; and that night they caughtnothing.
04 But when the morning
was now come, Jesus stood on theshore: but the disciples knew not that
it was Jesus.
05 Then Jesus saith
unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They
answered him, No.
06 And he said unto
them, Cast the net on the right sideof the ship,
and ye shall find. They cast therefore, andnow they were not able
to draw it for the multitude offishes.
07 Therefore that
disciple whom Jesus loved saith untoPeter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon
Peter heard that itwas the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (forhe
was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
08 And the other disciples
came in a little ship; (forthey were not far from land, but as it were
two hundredcubits,) dragging the net with fishes.
09 As soon then as
they were come to land, they saw a fireof coals there, and fish laid thereon,
and bread.
10 Jesus saith unto
them, Bring of the fish which ye havenow caught.
11 Simon Peter went
up, and drew the net to land full ofgreat fishes, an hundred and fifty
and three: and for allthere were so many, yet was not the net broken.
12 Jesus saith unto
them, Come and dine. And none of thedisciples
durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it wasthe Lord.
13 Jesus then cometh,
and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.
14 This is now the
third time that Jesus showed himself tohis disciples, after that he was
risen from the dead.
15 So when they had
dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter,Simon, son of Jonas,
lovest thou me more than these? Hesaith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou
knowest that I love thee.He saith unto him,
Feed
my lambs.
16 He saith to him
again the second time, Simon, son ofJonas, lovest
thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thouknowest that I love thee.
He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him
the third time, Simon, son ofJonas, lovest thou me?
Peter was grieved because he saidunto him the third time, Lovest thou me?
And he said untohim, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that Ilove
thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
18 Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and
walkedst whither thou wouldest:but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch
forth thyhands, and another shall gird thee, and carry theewhither thou
wouldest not.
19 This spake he,
signifying by what death he shouldglorify God. And when he had spoken this,
he saith untohim, Follow me.
20 Then Peter, turning
about, seeth the disciple whomJesus loved following; which also leaned
on his breast atsupper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
21 Peter seeing him
saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shallthis man do?
22 Jesus saith unto
him, If I will that he tarry till Icome, what is
that to thee? follow thou me.
23 Then went this
saying abroad among the brethren, thatthat disciple should not die: yet
Jesus said not unto him,He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry
till I come, what is that to thee?
24 This is the disciple
which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that
his testimony istrue.
25 And there are also
many other things which Jesus did,the which, if they should be written
every one, I supposethat even the world itself could not contain the books
thatshould be written. Amen.
